Life

Theocharis and Apostolos are commemorated as new-martyrs of Arta, a city in the region of Epirus in northwestern Greece. According to the synaxarion they confessed Christ under Ottoman rule and were put to death for the faith, and they are remembered together as local saints of Arta.

Little detailed biography of the pair survives in widely available sources. Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendars describe them as brothers from Arta and attach the period of the early-to-mid nineteenth century to their memory; some calendars place their commemoration on April 17 and note that they are also remembered on the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women, while the entry followed here records their feast on April 23.

Because the surviving record is sparse and the details of their lives and martyrdom are not well documented in accessible sources, the entry is held as that of obscure local saints and is flagged for clergy and source review.
